Working with tables

All you need to know about tables

Tables are a common feature in many due diligence reports. Below you can find detailed guidance on the various features available when working with tabular data in LiveDiligence.

Adding tables

Tables can be added to any part of the risk review by clicking the table button in the editing toolbar and dragging your cursor to set the size of table.

Table sizing

By default, tables will auto size based on the content, expanding to the full available width if needed.

Changing table width

Tables auto size based on the content, but you can manually override this behaviour. If you want to manually size tables you can do this from the table sub-menu:

  • Click on the table to bring up the table sub-menu
  • Click the table properties button
  • Enter your desired width as a percentage in the width field

Changing column width

Like tables, columns will resize automatically based on the content you enter. If you want to override this behaviour you can enter your own custom column width:

  • Click on the table to bring up the table sub-menu
  • Click the cell properties button
  • Enter your desired column width as a percentage in the width field

Adding a header row

Header row is an optional feature that automatically applies a grey background and bold font to the top row of your table, helping it stand out. To add a header row:

  • Click the top row of your table to bring up the table sub-menu
  • Select the row button
  • Turn on the the header row toggle button

Note, you can also set a header column in the same way using the column button inside the table sub-menu.

When copying and pasting within tables, keep in mind the following rules:

Pasting tables from Word

Tables can easily be pasted from Microsoft Word.

When pasting from Word, LiveDiligence will retain all styling supported by our editor:

  • Bold
  • Italic
  • Underling
  • Strikethrough
  • Cell colour
  • Text alignment
  • Border properties

Note, in order to preserve a consistent visual style across your transaction, font, text size, and text colour are all standardised when pasted into LiveDiligence.

Tables can also be pasted directly from Microsoft Excel. Currently styling is not preserved when pasting from Excel, but can be added later via the LiveDiligence editor. We are working with the text editor developer to see if we can remove this limitation. There is a work around: If you paste your Excel table into Word, then into LiveDiligence, the original Excel styling will be preserved.
